Faith is a Season

A Short Reflection on Winter

When winter darkness descends Nature in her wisdom deprives us of any frivolous expenditure of energy, making the days shorter and our need for rest more pronounced. It seems as if each day calls us to look inward, to bless the space in between the darkness and the emergent light.

Winter is where our creativity and soul songs gestate in the shadow of the unconscious, like invisible seeds planted in the fall. The wise will drop them into the fertile ground of that liminal space with the faith that they will blossom in the light of spring. There is no guarantee. But you plant them anyway.
